The Water Department is promoting the contest in conjunction with LBPost.com; the Surfrider Foundation; JustinRudd.com, a site run by local community organizer Justin Rudd; and Prof. Alan Jacobs of Cal State Long Beach's Film and Electronic Arts Department.
To compete in the contest, participants can go to www.youtube.com, create an account and submit a video to the "Stop Wasting Water Video Contest" group. The Water Department's Web site, www.lbwater.org, also has a link to the contest site.
So far, only a handful of videos have been submitted, including three fairly straightforward ones by Rudd.
In one of those videos, an unidentifiable man takes an overly long shower behind an opaque shower curtain (Rudd wouldn't say who the shadowy figure is). GUESS WHO IT IS?
